Image taken by ISS camera

Live camera image transmitted from the “International Space Station (ISS)” is captured by Bangladeshi Amateur Radio Operator Fazlay Rabby, callsign S21RC for the very first time in the country.

The transmission was received on 18 October at 4:18 PM local time when the ISS was flying its 56,793 number orbit, 1700KM away from Dhaka and at a height of 352KM from the ground.

To receive the image directly from the space station ISS, Rabby made his own antenna which is especially designed for space communication. He used locally available materials like PVC, copper and aluminum pipes to make this indigenous antenna.

In the past, analog voice communication with the ISS was performed by some other Bangladeshi amateur radio operators. But for digital image mode, this is the first time that this feat has been achieved by a Bangladeshi.
